After enjoying a 30 year career within the film & TV industry I am now wishing to share my extensive industry knowledge and experience by exploring opportunities within lecturing and teaching. Starting as a costume assistant in 1990 I have worked in every single grade within the costume and wardrobe department, becoming costume designer and head of department in 2000. Prior to my film career I was heavily involved in fashion & design running my retail store Blue Serge then All American Boy, specialising in vintage clothing which I rented to film/TV. I also worked as a film extra before a life changing meeting with costume designer Bob Ringwood on the set Chicago Joe & the showgirl. Following on from this, Bob called designer Nic Ede to recommend me for his team whilst he was preparing to shoot Robin Hood-prince of Thieves. The rest, as they say is history...MY History!
1990 a full run of 9 months from prep to wrap on my first movie Robin Hood – Prince of Thieves starring Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman
Meeting Alan Flyng and working with Rutger Hauer on sci fi movie Split Second.
I Coordinated with Barbara Lane on four separate productions including Emmy nominated medieval series Covington Cross.
Met with designer Charles Knode and worked closely with him as key set costumer on multi Oscar winning movie Braveheart starring & directed by Mel Gibson.
In 1995, worked on location in Jordan for the movie Passion in the Desert starring french film legend Michel Piccoli.
Worked with Emmy winner Raymond Hughes on Gerry Anderson sci fi series Space Precinct.
Working on Hornblower I & II for legendary designer and multi Oscar winner John Mollo
Met designer Shuna Harwood and as well as working as key set costumer, I also designed military costumes for the Oscar nominated and BAFTA winning Best Costume Design for Richard III starring Sir Ian Mckellan, Robert Downey Jr and Annette Benning.
As Key costume co-ordinator for Academy Costumes I spent months supervising production of the hundreds of US D-Day costumes for multi award winning Hollywood blockbuster Saving Private Ryan. Uniforms from my own collection were used to mass replicate.
Met producer Bernard Mazouric and designed the movie Big Kiss on location in Nice, Cannes.
Working twice with director Peter Kosminsky including the multi award winning Warriors ( 11 wins, 5 BAFTAs) as military costume designer shooting in Czech republic.
Operated as designer for four films in Sofia, Bulgaria starring Steven Seagal and Jean Claude van Damme.
Being chosen to design Georgia's biggest ever movie in Tbilisi for director Renny Harlin starring Andy Garcia and Val Kilmer. Titled 5 days of War.
Being granted a US type 01 work visa ( for extraordinary ability in Film) and designing two period movies in Virginia & Tennessee, subsequently accepted as member of the prestigious Hollywood LA costume designers guild local 892
On an informal basis I have Lectured and taught students from the Sofia Bulgaria school of theatre design,
Tbilisi Georgia school for performing arts and many work experience and trainees from various schools, colleges and Universities worldwide.
